U.S. Census Bureau Releases Guam’s 2010 Population Counts

By Census Designated Place (CDP)

The U.S. Census Bureau has released Guam’s 2010 population counts at the Census Designated Place level.  Population counts at the Census Designated Place level provide counts for settled concentrated areas that are identifiable by name such as Adacao, Astumbo, Macheche, Ipan, and Ysengsong.  “With the addition of 29 new CDPs in 2010 since 2000, we will have better access to participate in federally-funded programs available to Guam,” says Thomas Morrison, Director, Bureau of Statistics and Plans.  This follows the initial release of Guam’s 2010 population counts which totaled 159,358 persons as of April 1, 2010.

You can view Guam’s population counts by census designated place at the Census Bureau website at www.census.gov or download here.  Supplemental population counts for American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands are also available at the Census Bureau website.  The next census data product release for Guam will be the Guam Demographic Profile which is scheduled to come out in summer 2012.  The Guam Demographic Profile will provide a snapshot of selected demographic, social, economic and housing characteristics.  For inquiries, please contact the Bureau of Statistics and Plans at 472-4201/2/3.
